About Pearl River

Pearl River opened in December of 2008 in the Adams Point District of Oakland. The reception to the upscale store has been welcoming and rewarding. Prior to opening the store, I visualized it with an inviting, serene and customer centered ambiance, quite different from the typical retail store. As a reuse store, customers are provided with an opportunity to recycle gently used items for both their home and personal use at great savings with the added "plus" of helping the environment.

I am an advocate for the environment and have been an active member of both Greenpeace and Environment California for quite some time; in that regard, a percentage of my sales benefit these hardworking environmental organizations.

For ten years, I designed, created, exhibited and sold my eclectic and functional interior home designs throughout the bay area as well as in the New Orleans area. I had the opportunity and privilege to participate in high-end art and crafts shows, which were scrupulously juried.

The shows included the Roy Helms Contemporary Crafts Market, Stanford University Holiday Faire, San Francisco Women's Center Celebration of Crafts Women, The Mustard Festival in Napa, The San Jose Symphony Designer Home Tour, Essence Festival Market Place in New Orleans, Louisiana to name only a few.

Now with the creation of Pearl River Upscale, Resale and Consignment Boutique, you can take advantage of all the great finds I'll discover for you. You now have the choice of coming in to our boutique or shopping on our online showroom.

We offer you an inviting shopping experience and fantastic finds all at great prices. Discover the pleasurable difference in your shopping experience. I look forward to providing you with exemplary customer service!

Be Well,

Ameenah Maria Lutfee

The Origin of Pearl River

The origin of the name Pearl River comes from an expansive river in Slidell, LA, which is about 45 minutes from New Orleans. Many years ago, pearls were found in the river. My family, which includes Choctaw Indian heritage, is from the area and I spent my childhood in that region. When I visit Slidell I always go on an excursion through the Pearl River.

The river is filled with alligators in their natural habitat. There is a lagoon area of the river that is so peaceful and tranquil.... lush and green ....it is so quiet in the lagoon area of the river you can hear silence like something from a movie...lily pads all around...plush greenery, moss hanging from trees with tropical birds all around. We were told the oxygen is 100% pure in the lagoon...totally awesome!

So that is the source of my inspiration....of course I love the lily pad area, and the picture on the card is an actual photo.
